“All of us who knew them thought this was going to be pretty much a slam dunk — that they would save the Folk Art Museum,” said Peter Wheelwright, a former chairman of the architecture program at Parsons, the New School for Design. “I knew they were capable of doing it and that, because of their friendship, that they would make a sincere, genuine, wholehearted effort.” — NY Times

^ Good point, Quondam. Logic and reality has no place in tabloid journalism, alas.
“It’s been a subject of discussion among every single person who’s involved in architecture,” said Karen Stein, an architectural consultant. “It’s hard to think of an analogous situation.”
Every single person involved in architecture? A Greek tragedy indeed. Self importance aside, there was a great article in the NYT this Sunday about how the New York art world has become a pure commodity. Unfortunately, the spectacle of the building is no different than what's happening to the art inside. This must be what zeitgeist looks like.
Maybe some TV network can follow them around with cameras while they say mean things about each other.
Nah, nobody'd ever watch that.
