Feral houses are no longer domesticated, having reverted to a different state, like horses in the west who roam free of any rider, stable, or whip. They are not, nor are their neighborhoods, as many like to call them, “dead.” These cities, as Griffoen shows us, are teeming. Growth is everywhere. - Good

I love these photos, even though I've heard them called "ruin porn". In a way it's the opposite, this kind of thing just makes you want to sit and figure out exactly what's going on, beyond and behind and before the image.
that's the nobility in the beauty, right?! that's the point, one would hope;
i always find it suspicious when "decay" is romanticized...being born and raised in Brazil, and now living in Detroit, there is a certain cynicism there...abandonment and poverty go too deep for "beauty", they deserve, as 765 puts it, to "sit and figure out exactly what's going on, beyond and behind and before the image"
and i agree, these images are strong, and beautiful, to do just that...
