undue influence? really? the prince? le sigh. well he be censored?
will, not well.
as i mentioned before, he has the right to comment on planning issues as any other british citizen, but since he as "prince charles" also has the responsibility to measure his influence (read: the influence of the crown, intended or not) on his personal opinions/comments
he is descended from god. that really should count for something.
no surprise here. the dude's been meddling with architecture in his country for too damn long to not raise suspicions
The issue isn't whether or not he has the right to comment, the issue is he is using his place of influence to inappropriately block projects he subjectively doesn't like. He isn't an elected official, and therefore has no real constituency, which means he is using his power inappropriately. If he has a problem with a project he needs to go through democratic process, just like everyone else.
His group's directive, to promote 'timeless' architecture, is more than a bit jingoistic. What they mean by 'timeless' is really, English architecture from about 1550 to 1750, which was an appropriation of classicla styles in a bid for propaganda.
Any architect, and any laymen for that matter, in their right mind knows that there is no such thing as 'timeless' when speaking about buildings. Every project is of a certain time, and context and has a certain lifespan. When Hank Dittmar says the organisation works "independently with various developers, charities and associations, university and colleges, architects and communities to improve the quality of people's lives by teaching and practising timeless and ecological ways of planning, designing and building". He really means 'by teaching and practising NOSTALGIC ways of planning, designing and building'
