Big Sur, CA architect Mickey Muennig.
He’s lived here since 1971, when he came for a visit and fell in love with the area’s wild beauty and the independent spirit of the bohemian residents—and became the first master of eco-minded architecture, perfecting green-roof construction more than 30 years before it became the fashionable way to build.

What a view.
Plus, i love the idea of him living in that mini-glass tepee house for 18+ yrs.
these ideas and architects who practiced them were also called 'irrevelant' by some of the people who are championing it now! only 20-30 years ago, mind you... number of post modern and deconstructivist buildings which utilized the natural resources is too small to mention. but many architects before them used many good practices such as radiant heating systems, orientation, masonary heat storing walls, intelligent glazing, and good air circulation and vantilation. good example would be flw's usonian houses.
My husband would call this work - the way it looks, not the way it functions - hippy dippy; it gives him the heebijeebies. Personally, i love it. Maybe someday I'll build something similar for myself, and live there BY myself.
