The sunny state of Florida just announced that they will begin construction on the world's first solar-powered city this year. A collaboration between Florida Power & Light and development firm Kitson & Partners, the 17,000 acre city will generate all of its electrical needs via a 75 megawatt, $300 million solar-powered generator. The city will also use smart grid technology to manage its power and allow all inhabitants of the community to monitor their energy consumption. Inhabitat

i just don't understand why it has to be so ugly...can it not be both solar powered and beautiful?
Before we start building more stuff, we should equip our existing structures with solar panels. I see hardly any homes harvesting the sun's energy here in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, etc.
pathetic lack of vision -- looks like any banal exurban enclave from the last 25 years
