In 1978 the architect Craig Hodgetts produced a wondrous set of drawings for a Hollywood movie adaptation of the pulp classic, “Ecotopia”. With plenty of savvy and pop-culture sensibility, the script was translated into awe-inspiring architectonic visuals. Awesome drawings. I hope I live to see the day we can sit in beanbag chairs while riding a maglev train.
I read Ecotopia in 1987, and the most vivid memory I have of it is the description of the enormous wave-energy power station. I've always loved huge industrial infrastructure juxtaposed against nature and the Hodgetts drawings show a very cool vision of what those things could be.
