For those of you who went to SCI-Arc, you will surely remember academic counselor Bill Simonian. Bill was one of the original members of the group that left Cal Poly Pamona in '72 to start the Southern California Institute of Architecture. Last year he retired from his position of 34 years, but isn't quite ready to cut his ties with the students, so he's started up a project called ARCounsel. ARCounsel offers free advice to high school graduates considering a career in architecture. The program is not affiliated with SCI-Arc and offers unbiased counsel on architecture school in general.

very interesting. puts a new spin on recruiting and allure. is it a discussion for personality based architectural education or curriculum based education? there will be a fierce competition between the private schools to attract students, if the economic downturn persists.
bill has always been a reality check person and his advice would be priceless.
i also recommend a recent archinect feature.
you know what? I think this is really useful and a great idea. there are so many paths to architecture and it's so important to chose one that's right from the beginning.
Great idea form a Great person.
what a wonderful service- and selfless idea. i hope more architects follow suit in whatever way they deem necessary.
