Mies van der Rohe's bronze curtain walled masterpiece Seagram Building cost $36million to build. "Many architects have tried to duplicate it, but no building can compare to it." WSJ
a truly great building. hands down one of the best if not the best modern building in new york- when it doesn't have that stupid piece of shit calder sculpture in front. and, mies is still a god despite the worst intentions of most starchitects and "critics" and "art" "curators"
"You look at any modern skyscraper today and you won't find bronze extruding from the facade. There isn't a copper manufacturing plant big enough that could produce all that copper, and it would cost billions of dollars to build."
i think they are talking about those bronze sections.
now, it is just a matter of short time that bronze, brass, copper and gold will be hip to use again on hi design. anytime something goes up in price and not used for a period of time, it becomes vouge. that is fashion...
