Watching the Olympics opening ceremony, there is a feeling tense expectations - hopefully, when the games are over, the people of China will look toward a greater freedom - rigid nationalism will maybe transform into a positive feeling of power - power to choose, power to stand up.
The Olympics will be political - but how, and what we'll be able to learn after this, remains to be seen. Ai Weiwei doesn't succumb to easy protests, or nationalist hubris - his is a thoughtfull comment on this decisive moment.
