Why rely on common knowledge to make decisions when we can have questionable algorithms do it for us!
Locational buffer calculations based on amenities don't take into account impediments to movement (like steep hills or inclement weather) or the semantics of services.
S.F. may be the most "walkable" by this calculation, but I assume that NY is still superior in reality.
I mean cafes and movie theaters? Really? By that token, any muni with a lifestyle center will score unnaturally higher than it should.
Man, I must be some lucky boy: my home in LA's Los Feliz neighborhood gets a 'Very High' 89 points, and our Archinect headquarters here in downtown Los Angeles scores 95 out of 100 points - 'Walker's Paradise'!
