New York based office Rad Nature just launched their new website. The office, established at the beginning of the year and lead by Columbia graduate and REX alum Dong-Ping Wong, is focused on 'determining more optimistic, productive and prosperous typologies of ecological architecture'. Enjoy. Rad Nature

call me crazy but shouldnt a hot architecture firm have more complex post it notes than a circle with a hole in it?
wait, what makes this special?
will every new architecture firm that launches a website now get written up on archinect?
though few, i think these projects are very good. green building has the potential to generate new typologies ie sunshine project. with this focus in mind, i think it will be interesting to see how this office develops.
no doubt this up and coming practice will be giving something to talk about in the near future.
Congrats!
i agree with evilp.'s comment about 'a circle with a hole' as the project seems to be an offspiring of prof. c.p.'s hypotheses regarding the continuity and territoriality of urban fabric. the form seems to be too simple and less inspiring than the original renderings and to tease for practical calculations i.e. traffic jam when a ring is used as a heart of circulation during rush hours, the scale of slopes to envelop all these surfaces above and below and so forth. a question comes to mind whether it was deliberate to exclude any personality from the creative process. otherwise, a little ambiguities might be more refreshing?
i understand why we are so quick to rip on a small firm that has just taken the leap.
best of luck RAD.
We all know that small firms can do small projects, but the other thing they are so well-equipped to do - with no overhead to pay for and fewer constituencies to please - is radical IDEA projects. This website is refreshing because it actually dares to think big, like Burnham told us to do.
Burnham's exact words never get old:
"Make no little plans. They have no magic to stir men's blood and probably themselves will not be realized. Make big plans; aim high in hope and work, remembering that a noble, logical diagram once recorded will never die, but long after we are gone will be a living thing, asserting itself with ever-growing insistency. Remember that our sons and grandsons are going to do things that would stagger us. Let your watchword be order and your beacon beauty. Think big."
if you're gonna be a hater, shouldn't it be more productive?
what's more troubling about a generation of young architects than the ability to get press based on 'ideas', is the lack of critical conversation between us that engages the past while projecting forward our body of knowledge as a profession, not as individual firms trying to make it. isn't this what made 'the whites' and 'the grays' seminal in terms of architecture publicity? their critique of each other furthered their own work while contributing to expanding new york's avant-garde architectural theory. check it out:

@ ayr2103: Looks like you were right. Fresh Rad Nature transformed into Family, and look what they have done since this posting. The Worms installation and Plus Pool. Good stuff.
