After all the outrage, praise, disgust, wonder and mixed emotions that the architectural model of the serpentine pavilion 2008 created, I am glad to announce that the building's construction photo gallery is up and running.
Go on and express yourselves some more.

those images of stacked lumber are much more interesting than the design of the pavilion itself.
So much effort, so much material, for something so ephemeral...
or am I wrong? What typically becomes of these when the season is over? Do they remain in place? Are they rebuilt somewhere else? Recycled?
Marc,
Typically they sell it to collectors. Who then erect and have a staritect designed garden shed...
Dread, i actually am more excited about the project and how it might look now that i have seen some prelim image sof construction.
I really like the lumber.
yeah, i reacted to the images of the model with dislike, but my curiosity has been piqued after seeing the construction images.
i'm kind of disappointed that they're faking the massive wooden columns/beams by encasing steel sections with lumber.
still looks cool, though.
looks like it's actually a steel construction cased (hidden?) in lumber beams - now that's totally disappointing! I was really excited to see how he pulls it off to get these huge solid wooden beams connected to each other in such an adventurous way as the model proposed. lame.
oh, dread just mentioned the same thing. I'm lame, too. :P
younger gehry would opt for these?
i don't know. he is a master of materiality as well as space. it is a waste of douglas fir but i find it humorous. maybe it is politically not correct?
"Inside the Pavilion, glass canopies are hung from the wooden structure to protect the interior from wind and rain and provide for shade during sunny days."
Eh -- shade during sunny day's, by glass ??
Building, the British construction magazine also published some construction images whee you can see the lifting of the pillars.

I have a hard time liking the model. I wonder how awkward those stairs are going to be, they look like they will create an awkard traffic jam when people descend them. But I am interested to see pics of the finished structure. I think pushing the envelope is good whether it takes chain link or not.
