Earlier this evening I had the distinct pleasure of attending the opening of New York Fast Forward>> Neil Denari Builds on the High Line, an exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York...
Straight from the Museum Web site:
As guests enter the Museum from Fifth Avenue, they step into a beautiful, marble rotunda, the highlight of our grand Georgian-style mansion. A stunning floating marble staircase leads up to the second floor where a graceful reception hall, complete with French doors, looks out over the Central Park Conservatory Gardens.
My guest and I arrive at 7pm...Up the majestic exterior stairs of the mansion, through reception to the coatcheck and on to the spacious lobby. We ascend the stunning staircase and run immediately into a crowd. Someone standing at a podium, with their back to the stair's double height volume, is addressing the crowd and thanking various attendees for their efforts on the project.
The project that we all traveled to 103rd Street and 5th Avenue to celebrate.
When the speaker finishes we make our way to the open bar. Beer from Brooklyn Brewery, typical red and white, some Acai wine drink that looked refreshing, or pre-mixed vodka and lemonade with a splash of club soda added fresh to order.
The lobby's double height staircase volume is home to Eco-Vert, a steel sculpture designed by Mr. Denari and fabricated by TISI:
On exhibit in the mezzanine gallery is a model of the HL23 Condominiums, a full scale metal panel mock-up, a monitor rotating images, and a set of construction documents:
Two smaller galleries bracketing the reception hall (their walls covered in HL23 graphics) contain a bar and a mock-up each:

i like this project from denari. cool models. let's hope the building doesn't disappoint.
great photos. it's almost like i was there!
Wait a minute, why is the blank facade facing the highline?
um, i wouldn't call that a blank facade....i mean it does sort of look out onto the highline....and i think he was smart in focusing hte glazing on the north and south walls....it'll give great views up and down the highline....a bit more panoramic.
man, that looks like an awesome exhibit...
I've always dug this building, and it looks like the exhibit put it out pretty well! Thanks for the pictures.
thanks for the sweet photos, aaron!
these are the best physical models i've ever seen!
