Artist Olafur Eliasson's four NYC Waterfalls may not officially be making their debut until June 26, but why wait to get a glimpse of the soon-to-be-sensations in action? Take a look at what was going on at Pier 35 near the Manhattan Bridge. Folks: we have water. Curbed | prev.

This is an aside - but what is up with the commenters on Curbed? It's like some pointless race to the bottom, who can say the dumbest, most boring, negative thing about whatever they put up. It's completely pointless, they're not even negative in funny way! At least try to be smart or at least sarcastic if you've got something critical to say! It's just nasty, it reinforces the worst stereotypes about NYC, and reading it makes me want to wash my hands afterwards. And people say Archinect is bad? Jeez.
ya, i'm bothered by that as well, but kinda take it as a given that the comments on that board are, for the most part, worthless. i've attempted to say intelligent things there in the past, but they are typically ignored entirely.
i think, however, that this reflects more on curbed than on nyc. i've found that during live (in person) conversation even highly opinionated people are reasonable. most of the time...though one glaring exception comes immediately to mind...
the waterfall looks sweet...i'm so excited about this project
My flight arrives on the morning of the 27th.
Coincidence? I think not.
Everyone wants to be a critic, and that is just what Curbed allows them to do. It is too bad though that most people don't know how (or cant?) be open minded enough to realize some pretty spectacular points, even about projects that may not be so special in their minds. For example, someone had an idea to make a public installation in NYC, and they are following through with it, no matter what we think. And while I too wonder what else could have been done with the money, I do applaud the drive that goes into creating any public art.
n_ in the city?! hit me up!
AP - I'll email you in the next few days.
