Three Gehry towers will replace low-rise brick warehouse office buildings and the Princess of Wales Theatre. The new buildings will contain condos, a new OCADU campus, and gallery space to house David and Audrey Mirvish's significant collection of modern art. — urbantoronto.ca

i love the comments at the bottom...everyone sounds like a YIMBY not a NIMBY!
If a Westerner, we tend to read from left to right. I sort of like the tower on the left. The proportions are reasonably harmonious and there is variety. I then finally look at the tower on the right. I ask myself how much more mileage Gehry is going to get from that peeling of the onion look. And on that tall of a building? Maybe he gets free rein in Toronto. That's his hometown, if I recall his biography. What do I know? I'm not that intellectual.
Toronto's skyline is so geometrically taut right now, so I've got my opinions.
Hideous. Horribly inelegant design. The right tower especially is shamefully awful.
I think these are incredibly elegant, I really love the way they meet the sky and the ground.
Lucky Toronto
i'm thinking these would be difficult for king kong to climb
^
maybe that's the idea.
They are cool. I don't like the right tower as much as the others, but that said: the first images that were shown months ago are WAY COOLER!

That link shows 3 much nicer buildings. Much nicer. The tower on the right would be tricky in a seismic area, though.
mmm ...are these faleifel sandwiches?
Three Penis in a Row.....
Ho...ho...ho...
Wondering if these are various states of erection?
obtw.. midlle one is Climax...
The first one is kind of attractive. Maybe it's the proportions between the peeling onion base and the rectalinear shaft, but it's a nice balance. It would have been very nice as a replacement for the World Trade Center in New York. Symbolic of rebirth.
Symbolic of rebirth or safe sex with the Bride of Brooklyn?
so then the white sheets, which in colour and form would depart from context, recontextualize the towers in their height? that would explain why only the middle tower's sheets are allowed to go all the way up.
the formal difference between the two enveloped towers (one partially exposed and the other suggested at its crown) on the left and the one on the right respond to the disconnect at ground/ podium levels. thats why the third tower on the right is different in nature as it is seperate; yet still, it is brought into the ensemble by virtue of the white sheets and the interface with ground level.
at first glance, i thought this was only about concealing and revealing larvae/cocoon style ("rebirth" you say). now i think the underlying rationale is that of integrating and differentiating. observant hit a good chord a propos horizontal reading. maybe the white stuff is more like a fungus that travels horizontally (air-borne crossing over street) and vertically (surface-infested).
"Symbolic of rebirth or safe sex with the Bride of Brooklyn?"
It's really that arbitrary, a one liner.
