For some reason the Archinect gods have selected yours truly as a guest editor this week. Despite my best efforts, my attempt to solicit bribes for the honor of being included in my Editor's Picks was unsuccessful. Therefore, I have deemed the following items worthy of your attention:
First up, the new documentary Archiculture had its trailer release party at the Center for Architecture in New York this weekend. This film follows a group of sleep-deprived Pratt students through their final thesis project, and promises to be a good one.
Also here in New York, some interesting stuff is happening on half-forgotten Renwick Street in TriBeCa. Further uptown, the local community board is having issues with Nouvel's proposed MoMA skyscraper. (Somebody wants to build a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan? Outrage!)
The MoMA tower isn't the only controversial skyscraper with issues. Financing for REX's Museum Plaza tower in Louisville is on hold. Well, at least they still have the Louisville Slugger Museum.
The gift that keeps on giving: You may recall how Marcel Breuer's Grosse Point Central Library was saved from demolotion thanks in large part to an incredible netroots effort here on Archinect. Now, the library has now recieved a $50,000 grant from the World Monuments Fund. W00t!
Shout-out to Peter Eisenman: Hey Peter, you know me. I was the guy in the elevator last summer at Columbia with the Vandelay Industries t-shirt. Pay your damn interns!
Speaking of Eisenman, there's an interesting discussion about his theoretical approach vs. that of Peter Zumthor, which makes for a good read. (Shout-out to Zumthor: Hey Zumthor, may I please have an autographed copy of Works?)
Other discussions of note:
It must be that time of the year again: The first of the inevitable "School 1 vs. School 2" threads has arrived. In an interesting twist, it's about two Canadian schools, McGill vs. Waterloo. Ah, spring is in the air.
School vs. School threads not your thing? Then how about the ongoing Obama vs. Hillary smackdown?
Meanwhile, the Thread Central gang is now discussing hand-me-down breast pumps.
I have nothing further to add.

brilliant job LiG, as always witting and human!!
good job. have some gin!
I clicked through to the Thread Central page with the story about Eisenman and the T-shirt. Is it just me, or did all of TC sound more cheerful then?
I think everyone is ready for spring. And a better economy.
And yes, agree with techno - great engaging writing, LiG.
