Right now, Renwick Street has to be the most depressing street in Manhattan. Already boxed in by the West Side Highway and Holland Tunnel traffic, this one-block connector between Canal and Spring in Hudson Square sees only the occasional cab and fire truck, and the rest of the time is blocked by construction equipment. Going up [on this block] is the eloquent No. 22 Renwick, from the shop of Philip Johnson-Alan Ritchie Architects, and the previously-revealed Ismael Leyva 13-story job across the street, at 15-21 Renwick. i highly disagree. No West Side Highway OR Canal Street traffic uses Renwick Street, its analogous to a 10 foot dirt road that goes nowhere as an exit on interstate 95, no one would use it, therefore it is very serene. it's got a super-interesting view of the backs of the fancy condos on Greenwich Street, usually a good Shepard Fairey Poster, and Emerald's Pub has free happy hour BBQ on Renwick when its warm out. What could possibly be depressing about free BBQ and beer?
