Ex-RIBA president Owen Luder described Thatcher, who died earlier today, as the ‘right person’ to lead the country during the early 80s recession – while Alfred Munkenbeck of Munkenbeck + Partners said her impact on the profession had been ‘mostly detrimental’. — architectsjournal.co.uk

I'd imagine she was good for the clients of architects.

Former London Mayor Ken Livingston told Sky News: “She didn’t build any housing. She created today’s housing crisis; she created the banking crisis; she created the benefits crisis ... Every real problem we face today is the legacy of the fact that she was fundamentally wrong."
Yeah, I guess you're right there, Rand FRaC, me and ole Maggie are equal; she fucked over the poor and working class people, failed to stand against apartheid, killed Argentinians, fucked the Irish, and me? I just rant against cunts like her, and yourself. I guess you have time left in the day to go fucking steal bread from poor mothers, and their children, shouldn't you be out doing that, rather than here on a chat board? You sentimental American prick.

I had the pleasure of living in the UK for five years and I deeply deplore the legacy of Thatcher in the UK, and Reagan in the US for that matter. I completely agree with Ken Livingstone's comments and would go as far as to argue that the current economic crisis is in great part the consequence of the deregulation of the market championed by the Reagan administration and her government. Let us not forget that she was in awe of Friedrich Hayek and Milton Friedman. It is all pretty dark stuff, let the rich get richer, roll the government back, no more school lunches, ketchup is a vegetable - remember that one?, in short; there is no society and let the poor pick up the tab for the mistakes of the top 1%.
thatcher and reagan helped to stop the exponential economic slide of the mid to late 70's
y'all hatin' on them and the 1% but without rich people you got no one to pay for the socialistic aspects that have been incorporated into our society
yawn. pablum. yawn.
agreed. i mean, placing all the blame for today's problems on thatcher and reagan? so pedestrian ...
