Prince Charles on skyscrapers; "historic cities are at risk of being wrecked by a "rash" of "carbuncles" in the form of office and apartment towers." Also, in a speech backed by a slide show which highlighted Rogers's proposed 44-storey "cheese grater" tower next to Lord Foster's so-called "gherkin" in the City of London, the prince complained that architects were indulging in a "free for all [that] will leave London and our other cities with a pockmarked skyline". Don't worry the Royal Family is seen as being so out of touch with reality they barely exist. The only people that will follow him are those that use the term "murdered to death, he was" and they are on a great decline. I do however think that building areas that focus one type of function an extremely bad idea, we are just going to have black spots at certain times, where are the mixed use towers?
having visited london recently, i think the city is benefitting greatly from the general acceptance of contrast of new x old...
although the gherkin dissappointed me greatly at street level...
