For every gem produced by the long-running building boom, there are even more clunkers. Chicago Tribune | Via Discussions

i think the zoning article on the front page of the sunday tribune was vastly more interesting then the the better late than never kamin dis article which hardly matters at the end of the biggest boom since the chicago fire... why wasn't he writing diatribes like this in 1999? Gallery of rouges? It's a damned army!
"If you tried to tear down an old wood house in Boston and replace it with a five-story condo, they would act like you're kidnapping their children,"
- dont give them any ideas, they just may use them
on the zoning article - you realize that because the neighbor's castle has been upzoned your now able to upzone because of proximity
well that article gives new meaning to me for whom i should vote for states attorney
If you are familiar with chicago's meaningless "color code" landmarking system (yellow - inneffective protection, orange - minor but usually ineffective protection and red - lots of outrage when the ineffective protection fails) sometimes I wish they had a "green" flag that will move you to the front of the line (or even reduce the fee) if you want to pursue a demo permit for the ugly building like those noted...
