"The predominant thought inspired by the chapel's concrete-slab walls is, 'So what's the big deal, anyway?'"
The columnist's commentary and overruling of the chapel is just plain ridiculous. Has he ever stepped foot inside the building? The interior is absolutely gorgeous.

it's kind of a mixed bag. readers big-upped some projects that the editor (who for some reason thinks he's god... i thought we were cast in that mold)
anyway, it's a terrible list, and paul is right, some were on both lists. and missing some great (and not so great) that should be here...
best:
Seattle Tower
Smith Tower
Cobb Building
Space Needle
Pacific Science Center
Safeco Field
City Hall (BCJ)
Ballard library (BCJ)
Chinook Office Building
Chapel of St. Ignatius (nominated but overruled)
disliked
Northgate mall/target
Pacific Rim Center
Goodwill complex on dearborn
downtown post office
federal courthouse building (which also got a favorable)
Experience Music Project
Seattle Central Library
was the emp on the bad list? It is a bit of a white elephant - great photos holz
Personally, i think they are silly for including the Seattle library and the St. Ignatius chapel on the bad list...
Although i like that they gave some props to the new neighborhood library branches.
