living in detroit, i think i've become completely immune to "bad neighborhoods." the carnival center, rather than being in a dangerous neighborhood, i believe fell victim to its own immense size. with all of the surface parking and little sense of urban scale, it's inevitably going to seem lifeless. a real shame because i believe miami needed the performing arts center, but from its planning to its architecture, it was a big bust.

I know the picture accompanying the artcle makes me feel unhappy, those two "tiny" buildings surrounded by all that parking...
