In an attempt to reduce car traffic by 40% in 2020, the city of Paris has partnered with an advertising firm to offer cheap short term bike rentals. Would it work in NYC? NYT
One of the key differences between the Paris program and that of Barcelona is that Paris has aimed theirs at residents and tourists alike from the start. This is especially interesting in these cities which have high tourist traffic. Would love to know more about Bicing's funding model too...
There's one thing for sure: Bicing's branding and design are way better than those mule-ish Paris bikes.

bikes work like a charm in my new 'hood...how come more cities can't treat bikes the same respect as thedutch?
barcelona is already doing this to much success....bicing!!! this city has threaded a new transport system in a very short time
