when raising awareness about global warming and the 'green revolution' becomes the ONLY advertisement on a F1 car the cynics would say that this is the last drop for using the word green. Then again, if these cars are going to race, they might as well do something about it.

When the daily news cycle is filled with such travesties, I would argue that new cynics are born every day.
The marketing mandarins at Honda have apparently never experienced cognitive dissonance. In their press release, there’s no mention of carbon offset, and yet they freely admit to spewing upwards of 12,000 tons of CO2 per annum during the F1 season. “Green” leadership to this optimist means purchasing carbon credits on the market to offset their annual waste while aggressively lobbying Bernie Ecclestone, F1 kingpin, to modify the FIA spec before host countries start charging them a carbon tax.
This initiative is all about PR spin and shareholder value, following the release of the IPCC’s report in Paris at the beginning of February.
The real automotive leaders are elsewhere…
It’s time for the Formula One Constructors Association and FIA to take a page from the USGBC.
