ever-inventive Fritz Haeg is looking for L.A. suburbanites that are "brave enough to break this toxic uniformity, by having their entire front lawn removed and replaced by an edible landscape. As role models they will then proudly devote themselves to the indefinite cultivation of fruits, vegetables, grains and herbs for all neighbors and car traffic to see." To be planted Spring 2006 | Also: Fallen Fruit, L.A.'s guerilla fruit-gatherers

Man it's cold here to be talking about fruit.

McGill's Making the Edible Landscape Project
i have chronic gluacoma. Does this mean that I could plant medicinal herb on my lawn? It seems like a win win win situation:
1) my eyes feel better
2) im saving the ozone layer
3) increased cash flow and disposable income
i have wanted to do this for ages, or to plant long native dune grasses(we are near the coast) which use much less water than soft lawns. but nooooooooo.
the visual 'amenity' and character of the street is sacred.
in 10yrs there wont be enough water for this city at current consumption.
It would be especially neat if the houses were edible too, Hansel and Gretel style. :)
