The Metropolitan Museum, which hasn't held a show on a living architect since the 1970's, now will feature the work of Santiago. Ouroussoff takes the opportunity to exclaim it's high time for riskier shows in New York. In the process, he echoes Michael Kimmelman's recent extensive exposé of money dominating curatorial decisions, thus "the most conventional ideas are passed off as daring." The result for New York is that the most interesting exhibitions are organized elsewhere. Says NO, "The Guggenheim's next architecture show, a Zaha Hadid retrospective, is a bigger version of a show recently organized by (Peter) Noever [Museum of Applied Arts, Vienna]." NYTimes. NB: Architects breathe? I always thought they lived on coffee alone.
