EVERYONE will be surprised if it happens, even Hernan. I gotta hand it to the guy, he knows the secret to getting lots of press. I liked reading the article in the LA Times, he's now interested in the grotesque, he used to call it beauty. I guess he finally used a dictionary...
I dont think anyone was skeptical something would be put up, but mostly the jury is still to be out until its finished and opens. right now it just looks like a junk pile of aluminum. hardly grotesque. mostly banal.
how does this guy do it?......how does one manage to get so much press, praise, and recognition, for the projects he does?
can someone please explain why his work is so noteworthy.....or is he just such a master at marketing and BS that the work doesn't even matter; that his projects are just sculpture hidden under the guise of architecture. is this a case of "it's architecture because I say it is"?
