MoMA PS1 has announced the five finalists who will compete for the 2019 edition of its annual Young Architects Program. Challenging emerging architectural talent to develop creative proposals for a temporary summer outdoor installation, the highly coveted commission serves as a stage and shelter for the museum's seasonal Warm Up concert series. Architects are also asked to address environmental issues, including sustainability and recycling, with their installation.
To choose an architectural studio, over 100 nominators from across North America are asked to submit a young office for consideration. Previous talent tapped by the program has included SHoP Architects, Andrés Jaque/Office for Political Innovation, The Living/David Benjamin and SO-IL.
