An animated high-rise reminisces about its life in the city in "The Secret Diary of a High Rise"
This charming animated short film titled The Secret Diary of a High Rise by Stephen Ong blew us away through its creative depiction of the life of a high-rise building. Narrated by the building itself, we follow as it reminisces about its life in the city, including an early romantic love affair with another high-rise and the growth and transformation it experiences as years pass.
Art performance at Tadao Ando's concrete MPavilion features grayscale gelato
Unique grayscale gelato was available to eat at the Tadao Ando-designed MPavilion in Melbourne, Australia. Created by Brazilian artist João Loureiro, in collaboration with local creamery Piccolina Gelateria, the treat mirrored the pavilion's concrete and aluminum materiality. The gelato came in six different flavors, each a different shade of gray, and no flavors were labeled.
The Paul Rudolph Institute for Modern Architecture presented an exhibition centered on the design of architectural poster art, which occurred over March. Titled Designing Decades: Architectural Poster Art (1972–1982), the exhibition showcased an array of stylist pieces from the private collection of architect and educator Judith York Newman.
Taylor Swift to give keynote at 2024 AIA Conference
AIA shocked the architecture world after it announced that music artist Taylor Swift would be the keynote speaker for the AIA Conference on Architecture & Design 2024.
David Lynch discusses his scenographic installation at Salone del Mobile with curator Antonio Monda
Acclaimed director David Lynch designed an installation at this year's Salone del Mobile titled "Interiors by David Lynch. Thinking Room’. The exhibit reflected the aesthetics of some of his classic films, such as Blue Velvet and Lost Highway. The centerpiece of the installation was an oversized wooden armchair, with intricate brass tubes positioned overhead.
Floating house from Pixar’s ‘Up’ is now available to rent on Airbnb
As part of Airbnb's new Icons line of vacation rentals, a replica of the floating house from the Pixar film Up is available to rent in New Mexico. The house will also be lifted by a crane to appear as though it were floating in the sky.
