Following our previous look at an opening for an Art Director at the University of Southern California, we are using this week’s edition of our Job Highlights series to explore an open role on Archinect Jobs for fellowships at the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan.
The role, based in Ann Arbor, MI, is open to early-career scholars and practitioners "looking to deepen their work in a dynamic academic setting." The two-year fellowships will offer teaching opportunities, resources for project development, and collaboration with a wider research community, the school adds.
Archinect has previously reported on the design work of fellows from Taubman College. Earlier this year, we covered four fellow-led research projects on display at the college, spanning the secreting labor of silkworms, the migratory lives of Rome’s public housing, fantasies of the perfect home, and the “silvery handholds of commercial building space.”
More broadly, 2023 saw researchers at Taubman unveil their research in 3D printing from which the team claimed to have created “ultra-lightweight, waste-free concrete.” The group’s ‘Shell Wall’ system claimed to be 72% lighter compared to a conventional solid concrete system of the same size.
Of Taubman’s latest fellowship opportunities, the deadline to apply for their Fishman Fellowship is December 9th, 2024, while the Architecture Fellowships deadline is January 6th, 2025.
Job Highlights is one of a number of ongoing weekly series showcasing the opportunities available on our industry-leading job board. Our Meet Your Next Employer series profiles and interviews interesting studios with open positions currently available on Archinect Jobs, while our weekly roundups curate job opportunities by location, career level, and job description.
