10 Design and SB Architects have announced their completed integration as part of both firms' inclusion in Egis' Architecture Line, which operates 20 studios worldwide.
The integration took a reported 18 months to complete after first being announced in July of 2022, and the firm will operate as 10SB in the Americas market in the interim. 10 Design’s global brand will leverage both its expertise in mixed-use projects alongside SB’s deep hospitality portfolio for a better synergistic and cohesive offer.
"The combined geographic reach and diverse design expertise of our practices create a powerful platform for multi-skilled collaboration," said Ross Milne, the CEO of 10 Design. "By uniting, we’re not only stronger in terms of expertise and talent but also in our ability to deliver projects across multiple sectors and scales, anywhere in the world."
10 Design now employs 400 architects and designers spread across offices in London, San Francisco, and Hong Kong. Six additional small studios are also a part of the re-organization. Speaking at the original announcement, Scott Lee, the new Managing Principal at 10SB, commented that their combination helps "secure the collective a place in the pantheon of architecture, which is the pinnacle of where we have always strived to be."
Teams are already at work on projects in Miami, Virginia, and unspecified countries in the Middle East.
Egis launched the consortium in March of 2023 in order to "address the challenges of urbanization and climate change." Other global firms included in its umbrella are Weston Williamson + Partners and U+A. 10 Design and SB have a combined 76 years of experience to add to this collective and "worldwide platform," which Egis markets as a "highly structured organization" that reportedly allows each to retain their existing office culture, management organizations, and brand.
As part of the new integration, an updated brand identity for 10 Design is also forthcoming.
