Archinect's Get Lectured series previews the lectures and public event programs happening on campus at architecture schools around the county. Today, we continue with a look at what’s going on at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) this Fall.
Thom Mayne kicks things off on September 18 with a lecture that precedes the release of Peter Trummer’s new title The City as a Technical Being: On the Mode of Existence of Architecture on September 29. October begins with a lecture from 032c editor Victoria Camblin on October 11. Her appearance is followed by Alper Derinboğaz’s discussion on geospace on October 25.
November 1 will see 2003 M.Arch graduate and Aytac Architects founder Alper Aytac return to the SCI-Arc to discuss his work and career. HERTZ principal and former faculty member David Hertz follows with a visit on November 8. Benedetta Tagliabue will present a lecture on EMBT’s approach through a lens of different design theories on November 15. A lecture from Barbara Bouza follows with a look at her work with the Walt Disney Imagineering team on November 29.
Artist Lucy McRae concludes the semester’s programming December 6 with an examination of the “narrative prototyping” process in her multidisciplinary science fiction art practice.
An exhibition from SCI-Arc faculty member and founder of d.esk, David Eskenazi ('13 alum), is also being presented from October 20 to December 10 in the SCI-Arc Gallery.
