Peter Marino is one of six artists included in the latest update of Louis Vuitton’s signature Artycapucines handbag collection. The incorrigible leatherdaddy and designer of several of the brand’s flagship locations says his all-black contribution was inspired by a medieval strongbox he discovered while visiting a 14th century Venetian palace.
He joins Takashi Murakami, Yayoi Kusama, Sol LeWitt, and other artists to have been featured in the now 9-year-old collection. Bags go for €8,000 but are still rugged enough for everyday wear, despite the dual sculptural qualities he also preferred.
“It was a fun challenge,” Marino recently told WWD. “I design furniture for Vuitton; I design carpets and doorknobs, so it’s very much in the vein of what I do for them. This is not a wussie handbag,”

AIANY rescinds honors for Richard Meier, Peter Marino, citing harassment allegations
Yes that one. Guilty until proven innocent!
I had no idea private organizations were legally prevented from using their own judgement over whether they grant awards and honors to people credibly charged with sexual harassment.
And I had no idea this article was supposed to drudge up salacious accusations from the past. I thought it was about an architect's handbag design. My bad!
Are getting a check from his crisis PR team? Seems like someone has been aggressively working to dilute all news about these allegations while he also makes payments with NDAs to settle these civil claims out of court. #heroes
Problem is that most of these things are too hard to prove for the courts to take them up-because the burden of proof is higher in the system. I don’t think we should believe all of these accusations blindly, but if one guy gets accused by multiple women over time…probably should not give him awards and shit
