Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Curator of Architecture Public Programs

Description: The university is searching for a part-time Curator of Public Programs.  This is an intellectually engaging opportunity for someone interested in contemporary architectural discourse. S/he/they will be responsible for developing the school’s annual lecture series and coordinating other school events into our annual Public Programs. Competitive applicants will possess knowledge of national and international contemporary architecture and related fields. Bachelor’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. 1-3 years experience in related fields with prior curatorial experience in academic, non-profit, and/or arts organizations.

James Madison University seeks an Assistant/Associate/Professor of Architectural Design

Description: The School of Art, Design and Art History at James Madison University invites applications for a full-time Assistant/Associate/Professor of Architectural Design. The University of Tennessee - Knoxville seeks an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign seeks an Associate Director for Academic Affairs

Description: The School of Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible position as Associate Director for Academic Affairs. As the lead coordinator for the school’s undergraduate and graduate programs, this position will work with the Director, faculty, and staff to develop and implement transformational learning experiences that build on the School’s rich history, while responding to the changing shape of twenty-first-century architectural practice. The Associate Director for Academic Affairs is responsible for coordinating and implementing curricular strategy across the school’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs, working with the Director to staff a consistently exciting and engaging collection of architectural learning experiences. University of Kentucky seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in Architecture

Description: The School of Architecture at the University of Kentucky’s College of Design seeks applicants for a full-time, temporary Assistant Professor. The selected candidate will teach design studio plus related digital technologies and visualization courses in the fall 2021 and spring 2022 semesters for a total of 18 credit hours over two semesters. Successful applicants will demonstrate a committed interest in and knowledge of contemporary modes of architectural practice, design, and production, which may include: generative design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computation, visualization, and digital fabrication. During the course of the appointment, the School will provide an opportunity for the faculty members to express their research and teaching interests through the development of a specialized elective course and a public lecture to the College of Design and its professional partners. University of Kentucky seeks a Lecture of Interiors

Description: The School of Interiors at the University of Kentucky College of Design seeks applicants for a Lecturer position with expertise in one or more of the following categories: design systems, theory, digital media, fabrication, and multidisciplinary collaboration. As a School of Interiors faculty member, candidates will teach undergraduate studio courses and lecture/seminar courses, engage in School service commitments, and be an active presence in the School as well as the design community by collaborating with campus and community partners. University of Kentucky seeks an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in School of Interiors

Columbia University seeks an Associate Research Scholar, Center for Spatial Research

Description: The Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation (GSAPP) seeks applications for a full-time Associate Research Scholar as part of the Andrew Mellon Foundation-funded initiative in Architecture, Urbanism, and the Humanities at the Center for Spatial Research. A Master’s degree in Architecture, Design Research or a closely related field (e.g., Urban Planning, Computational Design, Geography, Landscape Architecture) is required. Candidates with training in the design disciplines whose research practices involve innovative digital, visual, and multidisciplinary approaches at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and the humanities are invited to apply. The Associate Research Scholar will report to the Director of CSR. Successful candidates must have experience and interest in using GIS-based research practices to open up new questions in, and modes of representation of, urban environments. The Associate Research Scholar will be an active contributor to projects underway at the Center related to the Center’s current research foci, Conflict Urbanism and Spatial Inequality, or to research topics CSR adopts in the future. 

New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) seeks a Workshop Assistant

Description: Reports to the Director of Digital Technologies and Fabrication this position will be responsible for daily operations of an integrated analog and digital fabrication shop in Long Island. Collaborates with New York Tech faculty and administrators and assist in; installing, maintaining, and continually improving equipment for a state-of-the-art wood shop and digital fabrication lab. Assists with technology budgets and reports in addition to fabrication lab policies, procedures, tutorials, and purchases. Trains and supervises student staff in the interest of advancing a culture of experimental making. Conducts research and experiments with the capabilities of traditional wood shop tools, digital tools, and various other methods. Organize software & hardware updates as needed. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and significant experience in fabrication in academic and/or professional settings. Experience operating three or more of the following digital fabrication systems: 3D printing, CNC milling, laser cutting, and vacuum forming. Experience with CAD/CAM programming; Rhino, Revit, Autocad, Adobe Illustrator. Experience using, installing, and maintaining software for 3D modeling, CNC, and/or Arduino systems is also beneficial.

The Ohio State University seeks Christos Yessios Digital Fabrication Assistant or Associate Professor of Architecture

Description: The Architecture Section of the Knowlton School at The Ohio State University invites applications for a position at the rank of assistant or associate professor with a research focus on emerging digital design and fabrication technologies. This position is endowed by the Christos Yessios Fund, which is intended to support faculty with the potential to make significant contributions to the field through scholarship, design research, and/or creative design practice. This position will allow Knowlton architecture faculty to develop relationships with the landscape architecture and planning sections and with academic units and research centers on and off campus including the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, the Simulation Innovation and Modeling (SIM) Center, and the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD). The successful candidate will play a central role in developing the Knowlton School’s already robust capabilities in digital fabrication and her/his research and pedagogical agenda will inform the direction of the architecture section.

Tulane University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor (Tulane Architecture Fellowship)

Description: The Tulane University School of Architecture is seeking qualified candidates for the Tulane Architecture Fellowship beginning Fall 2021. This visiting assistant professor position is a two-year teaching and research fellowship that endeavors to mentor emerging scholars, practitioners, and academics who are committed to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the built environment. The Tulane Architecture Fellow is expected to teach 15 credits per year or equivalent to two studio courses and one lecture/seminar course per year at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels. The successful candidate must have a graduate degree in architecture or related fields as evidenced with publications, design/creative practice, exhibitions, design competitions, among others.  We are interested in candidates who will contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the school and university through their teaching, research, and service. Read more in the click-thru link above.

The University of Tennessee - Knoxville seeks an Assistant Professor of Practice Fellowship

Description: The School of Interior Architecture invites applications for the 2020 fellowship. The full-time (1.0 FTE), nine-month position, is to be awarded for 1- 3 years (based on experience and/or promise of excellence) to somebody at or near the beginning of a teaching career. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor of Practice in the School of Interior Architecture at the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design in Knoxville. The position begins August 1, 202. Fellows are engaged in a full-time position and will pursue teaching and design research, creative scholarship, or a critical project that broadens the discipline. The Fellowship also requires a presentation and exhibit of the design research, supported by a modest research fund. This will be a full-time, non-tenure-track appointment.
