The Architectural League of New York's Emerging Voices awards highlights the work of emerging practices through its portfolio competition. Since 1982, the awards have helped launch the careers of more than 200 North America-based architects. Past winners include Toshiko Mori, Tatiana Bilbao, Enrique Norten, Casper Mork-Ulnes, Miriam Peterson, Nathan Rich, Olalekan Jeyifous, Mimi Hoang, Rosalyn Shieh, and many others.
The invite-only, two-stage review from approximately 50 entrants brings together these best of the best in design. "The award spotlights individuals and firms based in the United States, Canada, and Mexico with distinct design voices and the potential to influence the disciplines of architecture, landscape design, and urbanism. The jury reviews significant bodies of realized work and considers accomplishments within the design and academic communities as well as the public realm."

For some reason, this
makes me think of this:
Wouldn't it be great to have a Hall of Egos where Wright, Corbu, Gehry, Rem, Hadid, Libeskind, et al, sit around a long plywood conference table, with monitors behind them showing their projects under construction? Just waiting for a corrupt contractor, or NIMBY neighbor, or prissy critic to cause trouble, so they can jet to the site and save the day! (No saving of money, fees, or decency, though.)
Bjarke could be the annoying youngster sidekick. 'Villains' might include Prince Charles, Donald Trump, Andres Duany, and/or any of the Egos' paying clients.
Just think of the costumes and the super powers!
(And, yes, I'm doing anything to avoid work today.)
