By this time during the year, although hopeful at times, everyone had settled into a period of adjustment as attempts to contain the COVID-19 virus continued to persist. While the U.S. was coming to terms with this accepted sense of pandemic reality the architecture industry continued to press on. Firms and schools learned how to adjust, virtual events became commonplace, and annual competitions and awards were still celebrated.
Virtual discussions, panels, and presentations filled news feeds. However, as digital consumption rose so did the quality of content and the voices leading those discussions.

For the first time in 42 years, the Pritzker Prize Awards ceremony would not be held in-person. Yet, the special video tribute to the 2020 winners will include elements of the traditional Prize ceremony, exclusive, never-before-seen footage of the Laureates and images of their work.
↑ Architects Foundation Launches Black Women in Architecture Scholarship
Mobilizing the architecture industry to provide opportunities for women, specifically for Black and minority women, has been an ongoing effort in recent years. The AIA's philanthropic partner, the Architects Foundation, recently launched a new scholarship specifically to raise funds for Black Women in architecture. The Desiree V. Cooper Memorial fund aims to provide scholarship funding for Black Women earning a degree in architecture.
With her extensive expertise, spanning nearly four decades Mia Lehrer was nominated as LADWP Board of Commissioners. Her work will help the city in its plans towards sustainability, planning, and resiliency efforts.

Beloved Southern California public radio station KCRW shared the ever-popular and informative show and podcast DnA: Design and Architecture hosted by Frances Anderton would be discontinued from mid-December after being on the air for 18 years.
