While it is assumed that many of the people who work in architecture firms are designers, there are, of course, a significant number of vital supporting and administrative roles that are crucial to the functioning and success of any architectural practice.
International architecture firm FR-EE Fernando Romero Enterprise, a practice that situates itself as an "active agent in the reconfiguration of site and public space" and is perhaps best known for the NURBS-heavy Museo Soumaya in Mexico City, is currently seeking to fill two such roles.
One, a role in Communications and Media, focuses on spreading the "culture of the office through the use of social networks" and entails achieving goal-oriented gains across platforms while also setting "effective communication through social networks between the office and the public."
The role requires at least three years’ experience in the planning, arranging and executing of "all PR and communication activities" for another organization, excellent management, verbal, written, and presentation skills, and "strong relationships with key industry media, influencers, and organizations," among other qualifications.
A second, more senior position seeks an Executive Assistant for firm leader Fernando Romero. Aside from a minimum of two years' previous experience as an executive or personal assistant, the multifaceted role requires a battery of skill sets, including an ability to manage multiple complex and ever-changing schedules, confidence in decision making, a penchant for teamwork, "multi-tasking tasks that often vary in scale and scope," all while maintaining a "sympathetic and nurturing demeanor" and being "incredibly professional on the phone, in e-mails and in person."
The role entails managing the daily personal and professional calendar for Mr. Romero, as well as scheduling and liaising with clients, collaboration with the firm's Head of Communications to coordinate press materials, drafting correspondence, and "maintaining daily email correspondence between [Romero], clients, and collaborators," among other tasks. Not for the faint of heart, applicants should be open to international travel and able to be "on-call and available at all times."
FR-EE is currently at work on a slate of projects located around the world, including a technology center in Shenzhen, a cultural center in Oaxaca, and a multi-leveled villa on Mexico's Pacific coast. The firm maintains offices in Mexico City and New York City.
