Recognized for their distinct approach within architecture and landscape design, Snøhetta has published a new book highlighting their efforts to "recognize a potential to further challenge existing industry standards by developing new Lean key principles in the complex merge of design, construction, process planning, and BIM technology."
The book was initiated in 2017 and was developed alongside Statsbygg (the Norwegian Directorate of Public Construction and Property), engineering and consulting firm Atkins, and Danish construction and architecture firm Rambøll.
Following project experiences gathered during the design and construction process of the Faculty of Fine Art, Music and Design ("KMD") in Bergen, the firm wanted to explore new ways for exploring and publishing industry standards.
According to the firm's site, a takeaway from this building process and the book included the concept of "Milestone Planning." "Milestone Planning became the guide," the architects write, "and together with the cross-disciplinary team, the BIM-model became the product, seamlessly merging from the virtual to the physical, known today as a 'Digital Twin.' The experiences from the project inspired us to develop our own project management system, SNOflow.”
The firm has provided a free sample of the book on their site with the hopes to share and continue the discussion of making design and construction improvements within the industry.

I think this talk Craig gave 2 years ago pretty much disproves your claim.
To Archinect- thanks for posting about Snøhetta.
Lean methodology. Ask humans involved how it "works." Not the ones who benefit most from profits, the actual employees.
