A groundbreaking ceremony will be held Thursday for the 2.25-mile Automated People Mover at Los Angeles International Airport, which aims to cut down on auto traffic traveling in and out of the airport, officials announced Monday.
The project has a targeted opening date of 2023.

Earlier this morning, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti and other city officials celebrated the kick-off of what will be one of the most significant upgrades to Los Angeles International Airport—an elevated Automated People Mover system that will carry passengers among terminals and finally create an ample connection to the regional light rail system and the brand new consolidated rent-a-car facility.

The nearly $5 billion project is expected to bring much-needed congestion relief now that LAX has taken the title of fourth busiest airport in the world (serving a whopping 87.5 million passengers in 2018) and is projected to welcome even more guests when Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
Yes! Big thumbs-up on the APM and ConRAC facility, to completely reorganize and remobilize that outer circle of hell. No question.
Like probably half of architects in the area, I worked on a bit of this a few years back. I'm sold on the project. Here's hoping that implementation is smart, or at least competent. (Too optimistic?)
My jab above is at hizzoner, who seems to rival his predecessor's ineffectiveness despite unearned confidence. Our Governator suffered from this odd mix as well.

That's awesome. How about they fix the potholes first.
how about, how about.

That was easy. Next?
I'm down with you for Mayor.
Between Eric Garcetti and Gavin Newsom, I think my head's going to explode.
LOL.
All kidding aside, this makes some sense. It might allow for really useful off-site parking. If you've ever had to go between two terminals at LAX, it's a humiliating experience.

The contract went from $2.7 to $4.9 billion in a year and they haven't even started yet. Awarded to a to major federal contractor with no-bid projects across the middle east that is featured in the Federal Contractor Misconduct Database:

Isn't signing with a badly managed builder after a secret bidding process the last official step before the groundbreaking ceremony?
