The O Tower company has started developing the 250-meter tower which could be titled the tallest building in Morocco and in Africa.
— Morocco World News
Once structurally topped out, the 820-ft Bank of Africa Tower will not only be Morocco's tallest building but also take the crown from Carlton Centre in Johannesburg, at 732 feet currently the tallest tower in Africa.
Designed by Spanish architects Rafael de la-Hoz Arquitectos and Moroccan firm CHB Cabinet Hakim Benjelloun, the building aims for the highest international environmental standards to earn a certified LEED Gold and HQE rating.
The developer just contracted Belgian construction firms BESIX and Travaux Generaux de Construction de Casablanca (TGCC) for the project. BESIX has completed buildings in Morocco before as well as in the Middle East, including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai (in collaboration with Samsung C&T and Arabtec).

A giant middle finger to the rest of Morocco, which is very poor.
Only 4.2% are considered poor in Morocco (2014).
come on, we already have a 270m tower in Algeria! if you're info is correct about the height of this new skyscraper, then it WON'T be the tallest in Africa! Please check and confirm again. Thanks
There's no 270m tower in Algeria, is there? There's a 200m tower that's on hold at the moment, the tallest under construction is only 118m (according to wikipedia).
yes there is! and ironically you can't find it on wikipedia! not even on the "under construction" list! anyway this is the view form up there, and here's a picture of the tower. it hold the world's record as the talled Mosque Minaret in the world with 270m, and it is part of the world's third biggest mosque "Djamaa el Djazaiir", in Algiers, Algeria.
A minaret is no skyscraper, is it? The article is about the tallest skyscraper in Africa. There are also taller TV towers or chimneys beyond 270m.
Yeah, maybe that is the reason! I didn't think of that actually. anyway, I considered it a skyscraper since it contains restaurants, offices and a museum as well, similar to Abraj al bait in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
Minarets are not skyscrapers.
The mosque/minaret complex is much better than the proposed suppository-shaped building.
