"Many of the strongest criticisms throughout the hearing, particularly on this multi-storey library extension, came from local residents, although the neighbourhood speakers overall seemed split on the project," The Art Newspaper reports.

I don't care about this project one way or the other, but I hate the smirky argument at the end where the "preservation" organization leader (aka chief of development) says the demo of three townhouses led to the garden. It's a nihilistic argument that bypasses any critical debate (or responsibility)--the classic "oh the city is always changing so we don't have to account for architecture matters." Anyone who makes that argument loses in my eyes.
