Mobile architecture has been around for centuries, yet it's as popular as ever today. Looking for some design inspiration? “Mobitecture: Architecture on the Move” is a fun little reference book that spotlights a vast collection of architectural designs that roll, inflate, pop up, slide, and float — from the whimsical and the practical, to the rustic and the deluxe. Thanks to Phaidon, Archinect is giving away five copies of the book to our readers!
Authored by Rebecca Roke, this 320-page, hardcover book features over 250 projects worldwide. Projects are organized into eight chapters based on their primary means of mobility: Human, No Wheels, One & Two Wheels, Three Wheels, Four Wheels, 5+ Wheels, Sleds+, and Water.
The book also features designs that address social, political, and environmental issues like refugees fleeing conflict zones, homelessness, and migration due to natural disasters.
Every project highlights the architect/designer/artist/maker; country of origin; completion date; and symbols that indicate the number of people it can accommodate, means of mobility, and principal material palette.
Want a chance to win “Mobitecture: Architecture on the Move”? Fill out this survey by the deadline on Friday, May 11, end of day. Five copies of the book are available to win. This giveaway is open to U.S.-based entrants only. Winners will be announced in the comments. Good luck!
