About

Erin Sharp Newton, and Archinect Author of Newton's Notes, holds a Master’s in Architecture from UCLA and a Master’s in Design from Domus Academy in Milan, Italy. She lived and worked for many years traveling between the US and Europe. Her exposure and experience spans all areas of design, from architecture to the fine arts, from industrial design to technology. This rich worldly background has provided a unique context for development and contributions, enabling her to offer vision, creative intelligence and critical solutions to the design process.

As a recognized thought leader, Erin brings her national and international experience together to contribute a sharp, intense, and humanistic approach to architectural design. She was vital in developing the focus of Behavioral Healthcare Design and for encouraging this important area of work at NK Architects.

An advocate for human concerns in design, including serving as a Fellow at the Centre for Urban Design and Mental Health, as the Chair & Co-Chair for the Department of Health & Human Services Hunterdon County Local Advisory Committee on Drugs and Alcohol, and the former Vice President on the Executive Board of Hunterdon Drug Awareness Program, she supports solutions from a grass roots to global level. For these efforts she was awarded the Top 50 Women in Business Award through NJBiz.

As an Associate Member of the American Institute of Architects, she serves as a Liaison to the Women in Architecture Committee, is on the Equity in Architecture Committee and is a Trustee for the CNJ Section.  She was acknowledged by the Charter High School of Architecture and Design for outreach to Children’s Crisis Treatment Center in Philadelphia, and aims to lift up through design in all her affairs.

Her favorite part of life is spending time with her husband, step-daughter, family & friends.
