Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) has chosen global infrastructure firm AECOM and luis vidal + architects to handle the remodeling of Boston Logan International Airport’s Terminal E. The team won the design competition due to their collaborative proposal, which also satisfied Massport’s functional requirements. — Commercial Property Executive
This major remodeling of Boston Logan International Airport’s Terminal E will be lead by AECOM as the prime consultant and architect/engineer of record, and airport design specialist luis vidal + architects as the vision architect.
A press statement summarizes the proposed improvements: "The modernization program will incorporate significant renovations to the existing international arrivals and customs hall, utilizing a combination of roof and window designs to maximize natural light and efficiency. Intuitive wayfinding, spatial clarity and first class hospitality will transform the arrival experience for those entering the country at Boston Logan Airport. The iconic roof, designed following the sun path, proposes two skylights facing north, in the form of eyelashes, protecting the interior from direct sun exposure. On the south, the roof gently strokes down the façade to reveal a number of openings that face downtown Boston, offering departing passengers a last and memorable view – almost like a peak – of its radiant skyline. With an emphasis on efficiency and sustainability, the completed terminal will seek LEED Gold status from the U.S. Green Building Council."

here's a thought: take all this money being spent on useless aesthetic upgrades and give us real light rail access to Logan
Here's a thought: take all the billions spent on environmentally disastrous air travel and build a public nationwide high-speed rail system. Japan has been running the 200 mph Shinkansen for over 50 years.
Wasn't Terminal E completely overhauled like, 10 years ago? What a waste.
Sure enough: " The International Gateway Project, designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and DMJM Aviation, added 410,000 square feet to the terminal in 2003 and the entire project was completed in 2008."
