The exhibition “Fight for Beauty” is a physical manifestation of the book of the same name by Westbank founder Ian Gillespie, who Archinect previously interviewed here. Currently displayed near Vancouver's Fairmont Pacific Rim, the pop-up exhibition — just like the book — celebrates Westbank's evolution into a culture company.
Other pieces include vintage couture by Yves Saint Laurent and Alexander McQueen and new commissions by artist Tristesse Seeliger, music composer High Plains, fashion designer Jason Wu, among others.
“One of my hopes with this exhibition is to underscore the vital role that beauty, the stimulating, provoking and life-altering kind, plays in our lives and the importance of recognizing beauty – housing it, producing it and keeping an eye open for it,” said Ian Gillespie in a statement. Fight for Beauty is open to the public for free until December 17.
