Regarding the later kjdt answered "There are published rules of thumb for billable % for various typical architecture firm roles...There isn't really an industry standard norm for partners...100% billable is pretty much impossible in reality". While chiming in on the former, stone advised "Hire an attorney...A couple of additional thoughts -- you will find that nearly all aspects of the deal between you and your old acquaintance is subject to negotiation. In the end, each party's % ownership should reasonably reflect both contribution to the project's success".
