This post is brought to you by The Architectural League
Join friends and colleagues for Alchemy, the 2017 Architectural League Beaux Arts Ball taking place at Building 28 in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard. This year’s theme celebrates the transformation from one state to another, the quicksilver act of creation: dockyards into an innovation hub; concrete, steel, and wood into the world we live in. Responding to this year’s theme, Brett H. Schneider and Lizzie Hodges have designed UNPACKING, a site-specific installation that will stretch along 400 feet of the building’s interior to create “soft rooms” for the Ball’s patrons.

Since The Architectural League revived the event in 1990, the Beaux Arts Ball has become the premier annual party of the architecture and design community in the city with over 1,000 architects, designers, artists and their friends attending. The League identifies a distinctive architecturally significant venue for the Ball each year, and commissions installations or performances by architects and artists to create a unique environment for party-goers.
