Longtime DTLA developer and landowner Joseph Hellen has released a revised design for a proposed 40-story, 420-foot tall apartment tower at 525 South Spring Street. — Urbanize.LA
What would downtown Los Angeles' historic core look like with a 40-story apartment building with a wavy white exterior? Probably a great deal like the rendering above, which was created by TSK Architects working with Steinberg Architects (who are carrying through to produce the design in an executive capacity), to demonstrate their concept of the proposed tower. The tower has gone through a few iterations with different design firms already, but according to Urbanize.LA, this new version also includes a plan to renovate adjacent structures, including "the three adjacent Broadway theaters also owned by [developer] Hellen - the Roxie, Cameo and Arcade."

This looks like ever other 'Curvy Floor Plate' Tower that has been presented over the past few years. I don't see anything striking about it? Couldn't they be more original? Just saying....
how would you sell the iphone 17? come on, it's marketing, it's what they do.
yea I agree, it's bit of a copycat of the aqua tower.
Aqua at least had the decency to undulate the fin massing and attempt to solve a problem (wind loading) with the design.
This is just a single form from the revit generic massing family + copy/paste for each level
They missed an obvious opportunity to make the base of the building relate to the nearby buildings, up to the existing adjoining parapet height, and then let the tower undulate. That would have been much more interesting.
Are we tired of this "wiggly world" architecture yet?
