The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has finally pulled the plug on the controversial plan for a garden bridge across the Thames, announcing that he would not provide the vital financial guarantees needed for construction to begin.
In a letter to the Garden Bridge Trust, the charity leading the much-delayed project, Khan said he was taking the decision because of a continuing shortfall in fundraising for the scheme, and a lack of the necessary land use agreements despite three years of talks.

oh, somebody somewhere is making sense, how refreshing!
I wonder how how(if) this will impact Heatherwick's Pier park project in Manhattan and if this is a yellow flag for extravagant "infrastructure parks" like this one.
that could have been a nice park. you know, they could build it on the ground. it would probably be cheaper that way.
This was going to be a private members only park. They actually have parks in London that you need a key to go to and only the people in good standing in that park association can use the park. This was a money making scheme from the start nothing more.
Over and OUT

That's part of my question. Heatherwick's pier project is following a very similar model of controlled entry. It's already locked up in reviews, so now that the london gig has failed will there be any fall out?
and in the latest...
