Returning once again, the Tate opens its doors wide this Friday night to mark the end the month. Expect the usual views and sunsets from the Switch House tower, as well as workshops and talks throughout the building. What better start to the bank holiday?

James and Jazz | 2 May

James Stirling may be world-renowned for his contributions to architecture, but he was also well known for his 'larger-than-life character'. His love of jazz music will be celebrated in this evening of live music, top DJs, and hearing from Stirling's life-long friends including Robert Maxwell, who studied alongside the great architect at Liverpool. This event is part of the Circling the Squareexhibition.

Get into Design Family Workshop | 30 April

This family workshop will give families the opportunity to learn what it takes to create graphic design for publishing. The OKIDO team, who are independent publishers, have joined the Design Museum to work directly with the public for the day to pass along their knowledge of publishing design.

Exploring Belgian architecture with The Cass | until Thursday

Don't miss out on this exhibition of the best contemporary Belgian architecture, which is closing this week. Using the medium of comics, which is regularly used by artists and is synonymous with Belgian culture, Inventories #2 shows technical, architectural plans next to narrative comic strips of the building. This two-sided understanding of a project contrasts the building use to its physical design in a very unique way.

Christian Schmid - 'Towards a new vocabulary of urbanisation' | 27 April

This free talk, hosted by UCL's Bartlett School of Architecture, explores the patterns and histories of the 'planetary phenomenon' that is urbanisation. Speaking on the future of the urban landscape, both physically and within the human experience, Professor Christian Schmid will draw from his rich, international knowledge of the field.
